Description
Offered here is a 1960s Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver 1832M8222 — an original, honest example of one of the most versatile tool chronographs of the era.
Powering this example is the revered Valjoux 92 hand-wound movement — a column-wheel chronograph caliber respected for its reliability, smooth actuation, and historical significance. This vintage Nivada is running wonderfully, keeping time and start/stop/reset. The caseback features five distinct service marks.
This watch retains its original matte-black dial, showing the character and patina collectors want to see in a true mid-century sports chronograph. The multi-scale layout — tachymeter, telemeter, and dive scale — reflects the Chronomaster’s “do-everything” design philosophy, equally at home in the cockpit, at sea, or on the track.
The rotating bezel has aged beautifully to a highly desirable “ghost grey” tone, giving the watch the kind of understated vintage presence that cannot be replicated. The stainless steel case remains well proportioned at approximately 38mm, offering modern wearability while preserving its period-correct profile. The case shows marks consistent with a 60-year old tool watch.
This Nivada is paired with a new, unworn black Sail-Cloth Dassari two-piece strap with grey contrast stitching.
