Girard-Perregaux pour Ferrari Sport Timer Limited Edition Stopwatch No. 600, Ref. 89600.0.12.6156. Limited production of less than 1000 pieces in 1990s. Encased in a lightweight titanium case, tempered to give a satin-like yet hard-wearing matte surface finish. The timer comes in its original wooden presentation box, with all documents and even a brown leather lanyard, which snaps on to the crown attachment.
Following the acquisition of Girard-Perregaux by Luigi ‘Gino’ Macaluso, an Italian entrepreneur who had a strong passion for motorsport, including a career as a Fiat Works rally navigator, it was hardly surprising that a partnership was announced with Ferrari in 1994 to craft time pieces of the highest quality for the famed sports car manufacturer. Girard-Perregaux produced several wristwatches for Ferrari over a ten-year period, but only one model of stopwatch.
This Sport Timer would make for a fantastic piece in any Ferrari memorabilia collection or even for practical use at the racetrack, as intended.
