1988 Rolex Submariner Date 168000 “Triple-Zero” “Ghost Reference”  in a 40mm stainless steel case, featuring the Rolex calibre 3035 automatic movement. This Rolex has been tested in excellent working order and is ready for wear or to be added to a collection. Includes a new Wrist Wraith watch roll and the TLC Authentication and Warranty Card.

The ref. 168000 model is considered to be a very rare variant of the Rolex ref. 16800 model due to a very short period of production and simple but substantial improvements. Hence the extra “0” was added to the reference to differentiate this short-lived model. The main difference would be the improvement in the quality of the stainless steel, which was upgraded from grade 316L to grade 904L. After only about 9 months of production, the ref. 168000 was replaced with 16610.

On this Submariner, the crystal is clear and free of scratches or edge-chips. The original dial and hands show a beautiful patina, cream-color to the lume, and an aging fade-to-grey of the matte black dial. The original bezel insert shows a matching cream patina to the pearl pip, and faint spider lines matching the case and bracelet. Overall the case is also in wonderful condition, with a few light spider lines consistent with age and careful use.

Includes the original Rolex Oyster 93150 bracelet with 593 end links. The bracelet has two (2) removable links currently installed and will fit an 7.75 inch wrist.
